In-line skating

Vienna is a paradise for skaters. The Prater Hauptallee and Danube Island are free of traffic and offer miles of uninterrupted skating. Also the Vienna Water Trail is ideal for skating. The 17 kilometer-long loop trail leads from the Lower Old Danube (U1 Alte Donau) to the Donauauen National Park and is well signed (water trail logo).

Austria Skate Marathon

Skaters congregate at the Austria Skate Marathon, where even beginners can participate in the fun (free roller-skate rental).

Friday Night Skating

Right through the city on inline skates, where cars normally drive: that's only possible during Friday Night Skating. The roads are specially blocked off and a different route is organized every week. The event is held every Friday from May to October, meet at 9.00 pm on Heldenplatz (1st District), participation is free. Cyclists are also welcome.
