Climbing hall, Vienna

Climbing: Indoor & Outdoor

Vienna not only has the largest climbing hall in Austria, but also some interesting outdoor climbing walls - such as the Flakturm.

Climbing hall, Vienna

1,200 square meters in area, an overall height of 16 meters and 1,900 square meters of varied climbing landscape for all levels of difficulty - that's the "Kletterhalle Wien". The largest climbing hall in Austria offers something for everyone, whether beginners, sports climbers or experienced Alpine tourists with training ambitions.

On 400 square meters of boulder area (to boulder means climbing in jumping height) one can practice, warm up, and try out some tricks without any danger. They can then be applied during Top Rope Climbing (= climbing with secured ropes from above). Equipment such as shoes, straps, and helmets can be rented; courses and workshops, generous sanitary facilities, a seminar room, and a café bar are also available.

Flakturm Esterházypark & Pier 9

A view over the roofs of the city is offered by the 25 sports climbing routes on the Flakturm in Esterházypark. On an area of over 700 square meters, more than 4,000 handholds offer variety and challenges of a vertical nature. The up to 34 meter-high main wall offers routes for beginners and experts, between difficulty levels 4 and 9.

Pier 9 offers outdoor climbing on a 21.5 meter-high wall by the Danube Canal.
