Schönbrunn Palace with pond

Schönbrunn

Schönbrunn Palace was built around 300 years ago. It was the imperial summer residence and Empress Elisabeth, the legendary Sisi, spent her first years of marriage there. During the previous century, its spacious halls and passageways were the playground for Empress Maria Theresia’s 16 children.

Palace tours are possible on an "Imperial Tour" (approx. 30-40 minutes, 22 rooms, audio guide) and on a "Grand Tour" (approx. 50-60 minutes, 40 rooms, audio guide or tour). Children's tour of the palace in German only.

The children's museum "Experience Schönbrunn Palace", in the west wing of the palace, presents the everyday life of the imperial family in a way that children can understand:

Access to all exhibition rooms: no steps. Freight elevator for extra wide wheelchairs: door width: 160 cm, cabin depth: 220 cm, cabin width: 156 cm.

Parking for visitors with special needs at main entrance portal (Schönbrunner Schlossstrasse), Meidlinger Tor as well as close to Kavalierstrakt (2 parking spaces) and Fürstenstöckl (1 parking space).
