Film music has almost disappeared from the live stages of this world by now. But who doesn't know the legendary film and TV series of the 60s and 70s - such as "Breakfast at Tiffany's", "The Thomas Crown Affair", "UFO" and "Columbo".
Aside from their distinctive design, legendary actors and a certain coolness, these movies had another thing in common: their unforgettable music, including the enchanting oboe themes by Ennio Morricone, the orchestral TV series funk by Lalo Schifrin, music from British cult sci-fi flicks or Oscar-nominated songs by Michel Legrand and Burt Bacharach.
Velvet Elevator transports this sound into the present and follows in the footsteps of the large orchestras of Henry Mancini, Hugo Montenegro and Percy Faith. The cinematic and danceable arrangements range from American "1970s car chase soundtracks" to Bossa Nova, funk, cha cha and jazz.
At the same time the focus keeps returning to the film location Vienna, for example with an interpretation of the signature tune from the first "Sissi" movie or with "Chanson d'Hélène" - in memory of Romy Schneider.
