Dance of the Vampires

The undead bite: The creepy musical by Jim Steinman (music) and Michael Kunze (lyrics) return to Vienna – twelve years after its premiere and 4.8 million visitors worldwide later.

The 2009 Viennese version also invites its audience to the dance in the third millennium: with gripping rock ballads, opulent costumes and stage sets and a unique mix of tender romance and hearty eroticism, quirky comedy and deep tragedy.

Once again, we dive into the secretive world of the blood-suckers, with vampire hunter Abronsius and his assistant Alfred on their journey to the murky empire of Count Krolock. The cast is highly promising: Crowd favorite Thomas Borchert embodies the shady count and the young musical dream pair Marjan Shaki and Lukas Perman play Sarah and Alfred. With Gernot Kranner as Professor Abronsius and James Sbano as publican Chagal, a part of the original cast of 1997 can be seen on the stage at the Ronacher.

The musical is based on a snappy classic: Roman Polanski's cult film "The Fearless Vampire Killers" from 1967.
