Dance till the sun comes up – no problem for Vienna’s club and party scene.

Since the DJ duo of Kruder and Dorfmeister introduced the so-called "Viennese Sound" to the world in the 1990s, the city on the Danube has undergone a powerful development on the music front. The loungey downbeat is a thing of the past:
Nowadays, the club scene dances to techno, electronic sounds and disco beats - and prefers to do so at unusual locations.
Pretty much the whole of Europe knows that the Flex has one of the best sound systems going. There are no problems with volume in this subway shaft transformed into a club, which regularly spurs international guests such as DJ Hell, Trentemøller and Carl Craig to go all out on the turntables. Tuesdays and Saturdays are fixed dates for electronic music, with the evenings getting off to a relaxed start in the cozy guest garden right on the Danube Canal.
A bit further downstream, the Vienna Badeschiff lies at anchor, with a pool for overheated disco dancers to cool themselves down in at night.
An underground location has established itself at the entrance to the Prater, in the immediate vicinity of the Giant Ferris Wheel. The fluc and its companion Fluc_Wanne in the basement are dedicated to electronic music, with the program ranging form avant-garde noise performances to wild indie-disco parties.
The rhiz, which is situated under a city rail arch, has been a hotspot of the domestic scene for years, with daily DJ sets and live acts.
Despite its slightly hidden location in a courtyard off the Mariahilfer Strasse shopping strip, the Elektro Gönner has long since developed from a secret tip into a popular meeting place. Architects, artists and musicians typically frequent this former electrical store, in which one can unwind perfectly throughout the night, thanks to the late closing time.
